They Are Sober

Demi completed another rehab stint in late 2021, three years after their near-fatal overdose. In their appearance on The Tonight Show, they shared that they made the new album clean and sober.

"The best way to do that and the easiest way to do something the most authentic is to do it clean and sober. I made this album clean and sober. I can’t say that about my last album, but this one, I’m really, really proud about.”

They Now Avoid Alcohol And Marijuana

Their "California sober" lifestyle - which describes those who still use marijuana but avoid alcohol - got them some flak before. But Demi soon changed her mind and decided that "sober sober" is the best way to go.

"I no longer support my 'California sober' ways," they wrote on their Instagram story last year. "Sober sober is the only way to be."

According to Mayo Clinic, drug addiction is a disease, which can change the way your brain feels pleasure. The best way to prevent addiction to a legal or illegal substance is to not take it at all. Complete abstinence works the best for most people who have substance abuse issues.

They Are Moving On From Their Past

Demi made it clear that they are moving on from their pop music past. In a previous Instagram post, they had a "funeral" for their pop music, indicating a clear change in the direction of their career.

Of her upcoming album Holy Fvck, Demi said via Rolling Stone: "The process of making this album has been the most fulfilling yet, and I'm grateful to my fans and collaborators for being on this journey with me," they wrote. "Never have I been more sure of myself and my music, and this record speaks that for itself."

Speaking to Women's Health, Demi shared their passion for mental health advocacy. They were diagnosed with bipolar disorder back in 2011 but they didn't let their struggles come in the way of reaching success.

Their advice for others who are dealing with mental health issues: "it’s possible to live well, feel well, and also find happiness with bipolar disorder or any other mental illness they’re struggling with"

They Love Their Fans

In an interview with Rolling Stone, Demi expressed their gratitude for fans who continue supporting them throughout the years. They made a heartfelt statement dedicating their 8th studio album to their loyal fanbase.

"To my Lovatics who have been rocking out with me since the beginning and those who are just now coming along for the ride, thank you," Lovato said. "This record is for you."
