Camila Mendes is moving on to other feats after the Riverdale cancellation. The 28-year-old actress, who made her debut portraying Veronica Lodge on the teen drama series Riverdale, is set to join the cast and crew of the upcoming romantic comedy Upgraded.

Camila is set to star in and produce the romantic comedy Upgraded. With ongoing production, Gulfstream Pictures’ upcoming romantic comedy Upgraded has added two leads to its cast, with Camila joining the cast alongside Archie Renaux.

The actress will also take up the role of executive producer for the film alongside Mendes, Rachel Matthews, Josie Rosen, and Matt Williams. According to Collider, The film will be helmed by Carson Young. The screenplay was written by Christine Lenig, Justin Matthews, and Luke Roberts. With an array of talents working on the upcoming rom-com, Upgraded is set to be an exciting watch for fans.

She Stars In Upgraded

Camila stars in the film as Ana, an auction house trainee and aspiring artist who finds herself on a last-minute work trip to London, where she meets William, a young, rich, and handsome businessman (played by Renaux). Although little information is known about the film, further casting is expected to be revealed within the next few weeks as production continues.

“We are thrilled to be working with the enormously talented Camila Mendes, Carlson Young, and Archie Renaux as they pull back the curtain on the art world in this fun and engaging romantic comedy,” said Gulfstream’s Mike Karz and Bill Bindley, who serve as producers. With the film still in its early stages of production, no release date has been set yet.

On Riverdale Cancellation

Besides starring in and executive producing Upgraded, Camila is also set to appear in the upcoming Netflix dark comedy Do Revenge which will be released via the streaming platform on September 19. Previously, Camila broke her silence in Riverdale cancellation, which The CW revealed in May.

Per FanFest, the Dangerous Lies star spoke up on her feelings regarding the show's cancellation via Twitter. “One more season to deliver the ending you all deserve 💖 so much love for all the fans who were here since day one and never left. wouldn’t have made it this far without you!!” she wrote.

'Riverdale' To Receive Proper Send-off

Unlike other shows which The CW recently cut, Riverdale will be given a proper send-off. It will conclude after season 7, which will premiere in 2023. The CW’s CEO Mark Pedowitz announced the cancellation at the network’s upfronts, adding that he has the showrunner’s backing and would ensure “it goes out the right way.”

Riverdale has aired on The CW since 2017. Some fans are, however, saddened by the development and have already started #SaveRiverdale tweets.
