The Alexandra Daddario Intimate Scene That Changed Her Career

Alexandra's first major role was in the fantasy adventure film Percy Jackson & The Olympians: The Lightning Thief. Playing Annabeth Chase, Alexandra dazzled on-screen and started to develop a fanbase.

She went on to do Texas Chainsaw 3D, White Collar, and Parenthood. While she had a steady run of acting gigs, she was yet to tap into the full range of her craft.

In 2013, Alexandra joined the cast of True Detective. The HBO anthology series showed the actress in a new light, opening up more mature roles for her.

Speaking to MTV, Alexandra shared that she took it as a challenge. "I wanted to be part of the show, and I understood why the nudity and all of that was required of the character... The character is really different from anything that I've done before. The nudity was just part of that."

Despite having to bear her body on TV for the first time, Alexandra was comfortable with the whole thing. Co-star Woody Harrelson handled the scene well, Daddario shared.

"Woody has done so many different things. He made the whole situation very comfortable," Daddario said. "It wasn't anything awkward in that sense. I tried not to think about it too much before shooting the more intimate scenes, and just sort of did it. [Harrelson] has been there done that. He's Woody Harrelson. If there's anybody that I was going to be comfortable with, it's somebody like him."

Taking the challenge proved to be the right decision for the young actress, who successfully made her mark in the industry.

When speaking to Collider, Alexandra reflected on how that scene changed her career. "I didn’t expect to have what I had happen happen, which was - it’s a long time ago now - getting naked on a show where I didn’t have a huge role, I didn’t know what to expect... all of a sudden, everyone in town wanted to meet with me, and then I booked San Andreas."
