Are Chia Seeds Healthy To Consume?

In a recent interview with Paul Saladino, Patrick learned a lot about Chia seeds and the myth about them being healthy. She told him of her love for the seeds saying they help her poop, but Saladino said that's not a good thing. Patrick said she loves the mucus around it, not knowing it's the seed's way of defending itself. Instead, he said she could get Omega-3 from other food types, including Eggs and Butter. Patrick wrote,

"All seeds contain plant defense chemicals, and chia is no exception…In this case compounds like phytic acid which prevent the absorption of minerals in your body… 👎"

Nutrients In Chia Seeds

"The antioxidants, minerals, fiber, and omega-3 fatty acids in chia seeds may promote heart health, support strong bones, and improve blood sugar management," says Healthline.

While breaking down the conversation she had with Saladino, Patrick said,

"The problem here is that MOST people are very bad at converting ALA to the omega-3 fats we really need- EPA and DHA."

She added that grinding the seeds don't do much for the nutrients as the seeds have defense chemicals, like phytic acid and saponins, to prevent digestion.

Healthy Changes For Patrick

This year started a year of health for Patrick, who previously had a breast implant that was harming her internal organs. The retired athlete shared her journey via Instagram, showing her almost one million followers the healing process. She removed the implants in April and began her post-op care immediately. Since then, she's become healthier and fitter, even loving her natural physique for what it is.

Post-Surgery Update

The health changes Patrick experienced following her implant removal were tremendous. From her facial features to her lower body, everything was different. Patrick said,

"Within hours after surgery this is what I noticed - my face had more color and less dark circles (no food before the second pic), my face started producing oil again, I could take a 30% deeper breath into my chest already, and I had so much energy when I woke up."
