Sydney Sweeney received mixed reviews as she channeled her inner ballerina for a high-profile shoot late last year. The White Lotus star slipped into her pointe shoes for a shoot marking her LACMA Art + Film 2022 Gala presence - she posted the snap for her 14.4 million Instagram followers.
Sydney Sweeney Shows Off Ballerina Skills On Pointe In Plunging Minidress
Shot against a blush pink backdrop and sticking with the girly color via her outfit, Sydney showed off her impressive pointework skills as she balanced on her toes and on one leg while rocking a designer dress.
The TV favorite opted for a tutu-inspired and low-cut minidress in pale pink, one designed by Giambattista Valli - the designer is adored by the likes of singer Lady Gaga.
A Balancing Act
Drawing attention to her strong legs, Sydney also put on a slight curve show via a plunging neckline, this as she added in pale pink dancer stockings and a pair of pointe shoes. The actress wore her light locks swept into a bun, with matte makeup mirroring the dress via pale pink eyeshadow and a lip color.
"Last night, feeling haute," a caption read. Fans have left over 1.2 million likes.
It looks like Sydney faced a tough crowd. Per Page Six, users have been slamming the Euphoria star - not for the custom-made dress, but for what they deem to be subpar ballet skills.
“I don’t know who tied these for her, but they did her f–king dirty,” one fan wrote.“Your ribbons are supposed to…tie your ribbons on the inside of your ankle.”
'Not Over The Box'
Pointework requires the dancer to be what is called "over" the box. That's to say working all the way through the shoe and not resting the foot's weight at the edge of the shoe's square end - the box.
"She looks gorgeous but i hate when people get dressed in pointe shoes for photoshoots and they aren't over their box," one user replied, here directly to the IG post.
She Stays Quiet
Sydney does not appear to have addressed the drama. Also known for loving ballet, and having studied it, are talk show host Kelly Ripa and model Alexis Ren.
Stuns In Breastplate Dress
Not long after, Sydney posed in a head-turning and liquid metal-effect breastplate, this as she attended another red-carpet event.
British GQ Night
Shouting out GQ, which profiled the star, Sweenery wrote: "Thank you @britishgq for such a wonderful night :) it was a pinch me moment to be recognized among such a talented group."♥️✨👾
