Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana of Cambridge is the second child and only daughter of Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Catherine, Dutchess of Cambridge. Although she is only six-years-old, she is fourth in line to the succession of the British throne.

Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge, the couple’s first child, is third in line to the succession of the British throne, behind his grandfather Prince Charles and his father, as heir apparent.

But which of the children is more influential?

Making History

Princess Charlotte has actually made history for an important reason. In 2015, the Perth Agreement came into effect, meaning that male heirs would no longer take precedence over their sisters in the line of succession.

This means that, for the first time in royal history, Princess Charlotte can actually call dibs on the throne before her younger brother! Although she still falls behind her brother George, she has already made history as the first royal to be effected by the Perth Agreement!

The 'Prince George Effect'

Prince George actually has a term named after him. The “Prince George Effect,” also known as the “royal baby effect,” is a term used to describe clothing and products that sell better after George has been seen using them.

Even though he is only 7-years-old, he was ranked number 49 on GQ’s “50 Best Dressed Men in Britain” in 2015, two years after he was born!

In 2018, Prince George also became the youngest person to appear on Tatler’s best-dressed list.

While the “Prince George Effect” might apply to the young prince’s signature suits, Princess Charlotte also has a term named after her called the “Princess Charlotte effect” or simply the “Charlotte Effect.” Like her brother, anything that she is seen wearing tends to fly off shelves.

She also might have served as the muse for Gucci’s 2020 menswear autumn/winter fashion show. Although Michele didn’t directly cite Princess Charlotte by name, the collection featured models wearing “floral fabrics, Mary Jane shoes, and puffy princess sleeves” that look similar in style to much of Princess Charlotte’s wardrobe.

Net Worth

According to a 2018 study, the Charlotte Effect actually overtakes the Prince George Effect, as Princess Charlotte will impact the economy by over £1 billion more than her older brother.

The study determined that Prince George was worth around £2.7 billion, while his younger sister was worth approximately £3.8 billion!

Between her gif-worthy curtsies and her meme-worthy attitude, it looks like Princess Charlotte might be shaping up to be the new viral star of the royal family!
