Nicki Minaj is caught in the middle of controversy, after a tweet that exposed her feelings about the Covid-19 vaccine.

The superstar rapper has been laying low for the last few months and spending some quiet time with her new baby at home.

Her peaceful quarantine, however, was shaken up by the controversy. Now, she is receiving a lot of negative attention and harsh words from the general public.

It All Started Because Of The Met Gala

Minaj's series of tweets seemed to have been triggered by the fashion event Met Gala, which she didn't attend.

“They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t [be] for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head and face. Not that loose one” she tweeted out.

The Controversial Tweet

In her next tweet, Minaj explained why she was so hesitant to get the vaccine.

“My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it and became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it and make sure you’re comfortable with your decision, not bullied.” she said.

The controversial tweet quickly went viral and got some passionate reactions from the public.

Many People Got Mad

Twitter

Many people got mad about the tweet, saying Nicki Minaj was irresponsible for pushing vaccine hesitancy to her 22 million followers.

TV host Joy Reid was among the people who gave Minaj a little bit of a lashing on air.

"For you to use your platform to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives... As a fan, I am so sad that you did that.." Reid says.

To be fair, Nicki didn't say she would never get vaccinated.
