The Transformation Technique For The Prequel
The prequel for the 2009 horror-thriller Orphan, was announced in 2020 and revealed Isabelle would be reenacting her role as Esther in Orphan: First Kill. A lot of fans have aired their concerns on how the 25-year-old is supposed to reenact a 9-year-old character.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Isabelle revealed, "we didn't use special effects, we didn't use any crazy makeup tricks. And I think that's what makes the movie work, is because you really can't figure out how I look like a [9-year-old], but I do. And it's really creepy."
She shared that instead of using CGI, the film will make use of practical old-school effects like lightning, camera angles, and various editing styles to make her look nine.

She Played A Nine-Year-Old In 'Orphan'
Isabelle played the role of a nine-year-old in the 2009 horror thriller, Orphan. The movie showed a couple who just lost their unborn baby seeking to adopt an orphan. During their visit to the orphanage, they meet Esther, a brilliant and strange young girl who they immediately fell in love with. Esther is taken home with the couple but is always at odds with her adoptive mother, Kate, and constantly seeks the attention of her adoptive father, John. She tries to murder Kate's children and causes commotion between Kate and John.
After being left home alone with John, a shocking twist reveals Esther is a woman in her 30s and looks young due to a medical condition. She desperately seeks romantic love from John and murders him when he refused. The prequel, Orphan: First Kill, will show Esther, now known as Leena, and her murderous beginnings.
She Talks About Playing Esther In The Horror Thriller
Isabelle joined in the conversation with MovieWeb about playing Esther in the horror thriller. She shared her excitement about playing the role. She talked about how she had to pretend to be an adult when she first played the role as a child. Now that she is 25-year-old, "I actually had to put myself in Leena's shoes and pretend to be a kid. To find that again, I would say, is slightly therapeutic."
The actress also shared that she was able to discover a lot of things about Esther while discussing scenes with her body doubles. Isabelle also talked about reading from her old script when she was 10, trying to think like a 10-year-old, and merging Isabelle of then and now.
She Shares Her Thoughts On A Trilogy
In a previous interview with the director, he mentioned that he feels the franchise is a trilogy as this new story presents a different side of Esther but some years still remain unknown. He stated that there was a lot about the character and that in future stories, she could become more cold-hearted. Isabelle shares her thoughts on a trilogy stating she has been asked to do Orphan 3 and she said, "I feel like we're not going to wait 13 years this time around, though."
